I've taught an IT employee, not even an off shored employee, how to drag files from one Explorer window to another -- or even between panes in the same window. And if I had a dollar for every time I explained the difference between holding down <CTRL> vs holding down <SHIFT> while dragging...

And then there's the unix side:
Me - "Just type in 'mv <file_path_and_name> .'"
Them - "Dot? What is dot?"
Me - "Dot. You know, a period"
Them - "I know that! What's it for?"
Me - #THUMP#

That way I don't have to go somewhere, perform a move and then come back. I just get what I want from where it was and immediately go to work on it. For example, which is more efficient?

Even if you take out the 'cd ~' from the second example (which has certain implications) you come out behind the first example.

Yes, xcopy /s /e would do it (/e in case crappy app needs the empty subdirectory for some temp file shit).

Cooking for one sucks though. Cooking for 4-10 is a breeze. I was just roped into cooking Xmas dinner in Belgium (should the country remain intact) for around 20 last night. I wonder what they'll do if I cook 'em Chinese.

I have been doing indian curries of various varieties for the last couple weeks. They reheat well. They're tasty. Some are even tastier the next day.

But you're right it's a pain to cook for just oen, unless you plan to have leftovers.

Ribs (and other cooked meats) freeze well once, after that the meat gets tough. Most veggie dishes don't freeze well at all.

Curry, one pot meals, thick soups, risotto, stir fry (actually works better for one), things involving escalopes of meat or grilled fish. About the only thing seriously excluded imo is full roasts.

I don't really enjoy cooking, but I LOVE to EAT food that DOESN'T SUCK, so I end up doing all the cooking.

I sometimes cook semi-elaborate meals, but it's so I can eat it, not because I get off while crimping pot stickers.

though I do enjoy eating food that doesn't suck. I love to cook, and when I have the energy and the inclination, I like to cook elaborate sorts of things. Usually, though, by the time I get done cooking something, I have almost no desire to actually eat it. I tend to enjoy food more when I'm not the one cooking it.

I know what you mean. But when I'm on my own - food just gets in the way of doing other things. So I'll either just re-fuel, or not eat at all.

They're delicious but tedious to make- cut dough into circles, spoon in filling, fold over dough and crimp a seal around the edges. Repeat 50x.
It's one of my top 5 best recipes, and easily in the top 3 most annoying to prepare.
I probably should make them more often, but there's a lot of darn good food that's much easier to prepare.
